I am repairing the inside walls of a Center Console that was damaged(firberglass fractured just below the rail).
I cut out the fractures(both sides) and filled with cloth and firberglass resin. Then smothed out with Bondo. Now its need to be painted. I would like to paint the whole inside but not the floor and center console..
QUESTION: What kind of paint to use for walls and top rail. I can get awlgrip2 but having problem finding thinner and flattener(would like to roll on and then tip)Are there generic solvents to use with alwgrip. Am i better off with 1 part or 2 part paints. Also what is the result if i cover with a pool type expoxy paint. Would like to restore as "best as possible", not necessarily most expensive.

Info appreciated...

Howard, For above the waterline use, a 1 part polyurethane paint is acceptable. They can be had at some hardware stoeres and all marine stores for $15/qt. You can spray, brush or roll and tip, to apply. Follow directions on primers.

Awlgrip is overkill for this repair IMHO

Re: Topside Paint

I have done roll and tipping on numerous boats with great results....be sure to make it as even as you can and do numerous coats. It is surprising how nice it turns out.

the best is to use awlgrip it lays flat even after rolling and looks like it was sprayed u use the rolling reducer or brushing reducer and last a lifetime little more $ but worth it
