I had some info on these props but unfortunately I threw it out about two months ago.

I an sure that if you called Land & Sea at (603) 329-5645 they would be glad to help you...

Hey bond-o,

Thanks for the manual, it will be a huge asset when I go to set set up oneof these two props. Asside from some cosmetic differences the 426 and 726(stamped on the hub) appear to be the same. I can only assume that the 726 is just a newer version, possibly slightly different alloy or something, but I don't know for sure.

I may be wrong on this, but it could be that one was set up for a light weight boat and the other for a heavy load - shift points would be quite a bit different...

If you tried it out and it didn't want to shift up for you, that would be the reason.

The 726 had Q cams and 30lb springs, the 426 has 15lb springs and unknown cams, I haven't opened it up yet. Of course, who knows if either one is the original setup.

I guess I am going to have to try calling L&S to see if anybody there can still answer questions about these things. Maybe I'll be able to get my hands on a copy of the cam profile chart.

Gonna' have to wait till tomorrow though, probably wouldn't go over to well if I spent my anniverssary on the phone talking about props

Here are the TS numbers:

Here are thecghanges in prop dseign over the years. Bob M

There were 3 different blade shafts made by LS.

1. The first ones were a 1" shaft with the cam profile machined into the blade shaft, about 1/8" deep. The retaining pin had a bevel on tip that rode in that slot. The cam was not replaceable. Later a replaceable cam was added to this 1" shaft blade. These cams fit later props except those that use # 2 below..


2. The second generation had a 1-1/8" shank, and deeper cam, of different depth and shape than the later ones. This design had a 2 level cam slot bottom, with the inside end having a 1/8" machined depression, so the cam's bottom wasn't supported all the way across. This blade requires a special cam, but one could grind the slot to fit a later cam, and level the bottom of the slot with marine-tex.

3. The last and most popular cam fits into a slot that has a flat bottom on it for full support of the cam's bottom. This is the type of cam I'm going to have made.. They too have a 1-1/8" shaft blade support.

I will also have the blade bearings for the 1" and 1-1/8" hubs, made by the same company that made the original. They may be made from a newer and better material
