Hi, I am looking for the torque specs for the six 3/8 inch crankcase bolts & the head bolt torques as well for a 1980 Johnson v4 85 horse. The Aftermarket book I have says 168 inch pounds but that seems to be kinda light to me so I want to check and make sure. Also should I use locktight on the threads?

Any info someone could give me would be great.

Thanks

Silver..... The torque for the crankcase bolts and also the head bolts are 18 to 20 foot pounds (216-240 inch pounds).

DO NOT use Loctite.

You're quite the man Joe. Would 18 to 20 foot lbs be the same for the 1980 115 johnson?
Thanks!

The torque settings for the head bolts on a 29 year old motor have not changed in the last eight-?? years.

The answer to the question "Would 18 to 20 foot lbs be the same for the 1980 115 johnson?" is yes.
