total omc to mercruiser swap

ok heres another question i have two boats a 94 sunbird corsair with a 92 omc 3.0 and omc outdrive(apart but has good block)(foot is also missing). The other a 96 bayliner capri with a 96 3.0 mercruiser (cracked block) with a alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive. can i put the bayliner motor, and drive into the sunbird? or is there a lot of transom fabricating, ie- filling in the hole and f-glassing then cutting new hole? yes its a silly question but i love the way the sunbird looks compared to the bayliner and i could possibly have one running boat after swapping everything.

Same exact cutout. Nothing changes. Should be an easy swap.

Ayuh,... Agreed, IF you strip the OMC motor down to it's Long Block, 'n refit it with the Mercruiser dressings...

right thats what i would be doing but only using the omc block and all the internals from the merc engine along with the "lx" head and yes putting all that in the sunbird along with the merc drive. so in other words total mercruiser swap into a boat that had omc engine and outdrive will bolt right in (i think i got that right)

Ayuh,... That is Correct...

If the OMC motor has solid compression, 'n whatnot...
There's No reason to swap any Internals, at All...
It's ALL about the Externals...
