tower of power 90 problems

After adjusting the idle stop for more rpm I took the boat out again last night. She fired right up and idled way to fast in gear so I had to turn the idle down a bit, dropping the idle down again resulted in the engine dying while ideling in gear but I wanted to fish so against my better judgement I shoved off.

I cleared the no wake zone and throttled up, hole shot seemed fine and I backed Down to cruise at about 4500rpm. The engine ran great for about 2 minutes then started to miss, I could feel the miss getting worse so I turned around only to have the engine quit a half mile from the dock. I tried a restart and she fired immediately but wouldn't run without the high idle arm raised so I started back in at a fast idle. After about 2 minutes of smooth operation at a fast idle she quit again and wouldnt restart so I used the trolling motor to get back.

Once tied up I tried to start the merc and was successful with lots of chocke use but she would only run for 30 or 40 seconds before stalling and requiring the high idle arm raised and lots of choke to start again.

She has good spark on all cylinders so I'm thinking I need to rebuild the fuel pumps, any other ideas?

On more question, are the NGK buhw plugs correct for my 1965 inline 6?

The manual calls for J4C or J6C Champion gapped at .025".

Thanks, I threw in 6 J4C's along with my carb kits and fuel pump kits order. I figured since I'm doing the pumps, I might as well do the carbs to for piece of mind.
