Tower of Power Swap

I'm looking to swap out an 1984 115hp I6 with the same motor from 1981. Are the controls and PT for these motors interchangable?

From what I hear, the tower of power is a good motor??

The controls are interchangeable, however, the PTT looks to be quite different. You can swap the powerheads, and gearcases if you want.
