Tower physics/geometry

I've been doing a lot of research, and kicking around the idea of a DIY tower. My only concern is were the rope post should be in relation to the CG of the boat. Or does it really matter? I'm thinking a little aft, to keep the wake up.
It will be going on a Sea Rayder F16, ONLY if it won't be where we are always hitting our heads on it. And do you think there will be too much pull from the rider to pull the boat around?

centerline aft of the driver position. Might consider looking at comparable size boats with an installed tower for ideas.

As long as it's somewhere near the center of the boat I don't think it's a major issue. I can't see a foot one way or the other making a big difference.

On a boat that size I'd be most concerned with height. Your boat looks to have a smallish freeboard -- I have a 19.5' I/O that stands up pretty tall, and the tow point of the tower is 7-7.5' off the floor. When I'm way outside the wake I can make the boat rock a good foot or so if I try to. I'd probably want to keep it in the 6' vicinity on a 16 footer.

Ya, I wasn't planning on going very tall for that reason. I'm thinking about the height of my bimini, I really don't like how the tall towers look anyways.
