Re: Towing Vibration help needed

Torque converter/transmission does worry me. However when I manually shift to 4 or 3 its consistent, meaning it does not get better or worse even though engine RPM varies.

As for the plugs, they only have 15k on them. The 5.7 Hemi requires new plugs every 30k (and it has 16 of them!).

At this point i'm thinking I have it either fixed with the rebuilt joint in the front shaft or i'm going to have to go through the trailer completely. We'll know come April!

Re: Towing Vibration help needed

So I think I need to try towing my trailer with my other suv...Reason being and the reason I mention it here is that the main tow vehicle has a slip yoke joint issue which is a known issue with my tow vehicle. The dealership under warranty lubed it to fix a vibration issue when you are driving 30ish without a trailer. The lube job mitigated about 80% of the vibration and they won't recognize the other 20% of vibration that still exists because it would be more warranty work. In my case Possibly the issue is compounded when towing the sled trailer (yet there is no vibration when towing the boat). Or as mentioned above...the tires could need balancing.

I'm wondering if the tires heating up under use is causing them (or one) to get out of whack; stopping cools them (it) back down. Likewise a hub heating up but sounds more like a tire.

If the trailer is particularly heavy it could be taking weight off the front drive train, casuing something up there to start acting stupid-- a ball joint, CV joint, etc. even front end allignment issue showing up with less weight.

Like everyone else, just guessing.

before you go throwing parts at it and rebuilding stuff (if it ain't broke, fix it until it is....) I'd definitely run your trailer on another vehicle and your vehicle with a different trailer/similar load.

I've had trailer tires tread separation from carcass and it does vibrate a lot, especially at higher speeds....what kinda' shape are your tires in?....How about the tightness of those nuts on the ends of your trailer spindles?..If they're loose the wheels can/will vibrate....
