Personally in this day and age. I feel that every town should have a militia. Every male 18 and older should be enlisted, women can be voluntary. There would be monthly or bi weekly meetings. Those meetings would be emergency plans for the community and training. Every member would have a firearm, it would be issued to them on their 18th birthday along with thier papers.<br /><br />I won't go into details, but I feel that the communities should get together and do something along those lines.

If that small town, (Backhoe, Kansas), doesn't have a police department, then the county Sheriff's Office would be the official law enforcement agency, which I's sure it already is. I could be wrong, but I doubt it... <br /><br /> ...Bob in Calif...

If every citizen has a gun and ammo why would you need a police department? Only a total idiot would atttempt to commit a crime, hummmm; could <br />that be the idea behind the second amendment? It's enough to make one think.

Could this relate to the high crime rates in NYC DC and Et Al where almost no one can own a gun
