Was told to drop from 21P to 19P to get a better hole shot. suggestions were a 4 bladed, a TP hustler, or a vented prop. Looking on TP's web site it looks like the Legacy is the same as the hustler and has venting and can accept the different hubs. My question is: are all the legacys vented or do I have to special order that feature? It would be nice to try one first but I guess I'll try one and hope it doesn't over-rev the engine.
Thanks in advance, Fuzzy

The Legacy and Hustler are both vented in 17p and up. Same prop, different hub, 5/16" vent holes.

Fuzzybob, read this first: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=287818
Then tell us what you are trying to acheive, are you after better holeshot for water sports or are you hoping for better holeshot in hopes of reaching top speed quicker?
I am by no stretch even a intermediate when it comes to props but I am thinking a 4 blade prop for your boat would be more beneficial than a 3 blade depending on what it is your trying to acheive?
And yes, like bryonthefly states, TP's are vented from 17P up.

Re: TP legacy??

Thanks for the replys. Irv, yes I'm looking for water sports hole shot. It's a little tough getting a heavy skier up. I'm running a MWC 13.75X21 now. The numbers are: wot 4650 rpm at 44 mph (gps) gear ratio 1.94 R. It's a 4.3 LX webber 4V in a Larson 190 OB. Boat is 2300 pounds I figure 3000 with gear gas and people transom angle is 12 degrees with 18 degree deadrise. I look forward to any help or info you can give. Thanks Fuzzy

I don't have any exp. with the TP props, but the prop you have on your boat is the same as was stock on mine. I went to a Solas Amita 3 15 3/10 X 19P, A world of difference esp. on the low end.
Just a suggestion.

Re: TP legacy??

It is a 20' 96 Cobalt 4.3LX w/4bbl carb, not sure on the ratio on the drive. I might be a little heavier than you are, but my brother had the exact same boat as mine EXCEPT it was a 19' Cobalt - he absolutely loved the way that Solas ran - esp. for tubing and towing.

I can spin it (in salt water) to 4800 rpms, maybe a touch more at 47-48 mph. The fresh water rpms are just slightly less, but performance is about similar.

It is an inexpensive prop. Lifts the whole boat up out of the water and has pretty good bite.

I also have a 15 3/10 X 21P Solas Amita, while it performs similarly it is sllightly slower out of the hole and really has no gains over the 19P throughout the range.

The stock prop was a pig in almost all respects.

I like the Solas even over a 4 blade Powertech that was on the boat when I got it - A LOT!

If you are near Pgh. Pa I could let you try the 19P.

Re: TP legacy??

Thanks for the info and the offer to try your 19p. I'm not very close... couple thousand miles, I'm in NE Washington State north of Spokane, Wa. Iboats has a real good sale on the TP props so I think I'll just jump in and get a Legacy. A lot of people on the forum say good things about them! Thanks again
