Tr drive swap

I’m looking at buying a 1985 sea ray 270 with a 454 and a tr drive. Reverse is no longer working. And everything I read says to upgrade. My question is, I have a 1989 bravo one outdrive and gimbal that was also mated to a 454. Would I be able to just swap them out? Or is it more work than that?

Ayuh,..... The keyhole in the transom is smaller for the bravo,....

most likely the TR needs a new trans.

no, the bravo cant simply be swapped. the transom would need to be replaced first. however with the SeaRay being a 1985, most likely the transom needs to be replaced anyway.
