If you have MobileMe on your iPhone, you can track it to help you find it if you lose it. In addition, if you can't find it, you can use MobileMe to clear all your info on it. My friend that is a mutual fund broker is required to have it on hers.

I think you are talking about cell phone "spyware". I have heard of this stuff. I think Date Line News ran a story on this type of abuse. It leads to nothing but trouble, and in many states is ILLEGAL

If it's a smartphone, it will run multiple applications at the same time.

If it's NOT, you have to TURN on the GPS application to make it start reporting its location.

Here is an instance where they put a phone in a hot air balloon and then tracked it via GPS.
