I am looking at this 30' Sea Ray Amberjack and it has one of these Trac Vision Sat. TV systems. Does anyone know anybody about these systems? Cause I have no idea how this works. I would imagine you pay a monthly fee. How much is it, cause I cant seem to find that info. Its a Trac Vision M5. Thanks

Re: Tracvision???

i just took a track vision 4 off jill's 310.

the 5 should be a good one. i think its the latest.

if you have direct TV i think it costs you another $5 or so a month to add on that subscription. i think that's what they told me this spring. you need to call direct TV and ask them.
there should be a toggle switch some where to turn it on, and receiver unit like your home set.
even if your not signed up when you turn the switch on, it should activate the dish in the doom and you should hear it move. it should turn more or less south east. at least our did be for i took it off.

Ah...so the subscription runs off of direct tv? I have Verizon which owns DirectTV so i guess I would beable to add it to my plan. Can I do a thing that I just pay for it in the boating season tho?

Re: Tracvision???

not sure how that works

we weren't going to use ours, so we didn't get much info on it at the time.

there are a few here on powell and i saw a few down at mead though.

the ones i have seen seem to work pretty good.
good luck with yours. maybe some one that has one can chime in. i think its the same system they use or RV's but not sure about that either

Re: Tracvision???

Trac Vision is a manufacturer of the antenna, which is on a gyro, and locks in to a sattelite for TV reception or internet access. I can do 24kts and catch the Weather Channel.. I've used an 18 incher for years. My Direct TV bill is around $70 a month...same as home. I had all kinds of problems starting out with direct TV due to no phone access.... to the converter box (which you will need). They were not used to boats having sattelite. Much simpler now. Depending on where you boat...reception can be eratic.....especially up north....with an 18 inch dish.

Trac Vision makes an antenna also...which is a round saucer....the sat is a dome.

Yes...same as an RV
