Didn't ask dealer yet. But will they trade trailers? Looking at boat with steel, prefer aluminum. Will be fresh water, I believe, river runs into brackish lake. Not sure I should keep steel trailer, it is nice and don't want to screw it up only to sell later. Any idea what triple axle aluminum, for 28' boat, sell for?

If your looking at a new boat, then yes many dealers will swap the trailers for you. You will pay the difference in price. You need to ask the dealer your working with if they will.. As far as the price, an aluminum trailer for a 28' boat will run you in the $6500 and up range for a decent one. That is not a price for a custom trailer.

Dunno why you would want a tri axle tho.... A 10k tandem will haul the same weight as a 10k tri with 2/3 the tires and bearings to fail... It will turn better and be easier on the tires while doing so.

Depends on the trailer and dealer. I was considering swapping out my tandem for a single since they are so much easier to deal with in the garage. Local Malibu dealer made me an offer on my tandem if I bought the single through them. You'd get your best price selling it outright though.

Around here single axles from companies in the business are 3500# rated single for the majority of bumper pull trailers and double that for tandems. Single is really tongue weight sensitive and 10% of the rig weight is the standard tongue load and would be a good rule of thumb for tandems also.....if you ever saw a trailer jack knife at 70 mph....can eat up both rear fenders before you can blink, including whatever is running in the lane adjacent to you. For a 7k# trailer that would put you into a torsion bar "load equalizing" coupler like travel trailers use with a Class 2 receiver.....good to 10k# with the coupling. Texas for one state has just decided to start enforcing trailer inspections on things (boat trailers are included in things). Overweight is not a good way to get your sticker so you can buy your license....no sticker, no license.
