Trying to decide which Kodiak brakes I should get. I definetly want disc. Not sure if I should go with e-coated, silver, or stainess.

I can get 2 new axles with kodiak e-coated disc brakes for 1k shipped. Will these ecoated brakes last at least 5 years? Or should I get the stainless. It's an extra 400 bucks for the stainless setup.

Re: Trailer Brakes

I keep hearing about this "Washdown System." What is it? What does it look like? Is it something I can put together from HD parts and install?

Thanks

Re: Trailer Brakes

Stailess is your best bet.

The "washdown" on my 97 Shorlander was just a plastic type fitting in each brake backing plate, with clear plastic tubing between them. Then on one fender was a standard female garden hose connector, with a piece of hose that "T"ed into the hose between the brakes. So if you could find an appropriate little fitting that you could attach to your brake backing plate that would allow water to rinse the whole brake caliper/rotor, and you are handy, I would say yes, it's possible to build your own.
