New to the boating world. My boat came with a 2004 22 ft. Zieman Trailer with Swing Tongue and Surge Brakes. Is there preferred locks for trailers? I understand they all are deterrents but just looking for opinions.

The Coupler is flat, and does not have the "hump" on top. Thanks in advance!

if you are locking it at your home, the best lock is a heavy high tensile chain and a BIG padlock attached to an anchor set in concrete.... A chain through a wheel and around the frame works well too although a readily available spare can defeat that one pretty easily.

For a cheap lock you can just cut the shank off an old hitch ball and lock it in the coupler too

I have a set consisting of locking coupler like the one in the Master link, also has a hitch pin lock and receiver pin lock all on the same key.
I keep the coupler and hitch pin lock on the trailer all summer (boat is on a slip), so i know where they are and to hopefully deter anyone tempted to drive off with my empty trailer.

I also pull the pin from the swing tongue and run a lock through that so it can't be closed.
