Trailer Jack Grease Cap

My new trailer jack lasted one trip up north before the grease cap came off. Something brown (fox or dinosaur) ran into the trailer while I was doing 75mph in the middle of the night. That might have knocked it out. No matter what, I need to cap the jack. Does anyone have a good suggestion? Maybe I'll look in the hardware store for a grommet cap?

I did purchase it from iboats. Unless you can find me a greasecap part list, I'm not buying a second jack from iboats

Call the mfg and see of the can send a replacement. In the meantime, rubberband a condom over it. Or a plastic bag.

I assume you are talking about that plastic plug that fits into the crank handle end of the jack. Instead of a plug, how about one of those boots for Bearing Buddies. Or maybe an end cap for PVC pipe. If the crank handle gets in the way, you could cut a notch into the new cap.

Re: Trailer Jack Grease Cap

It is a SeaSense 800lb jack, however, in a moment of clarity I remembered that the old jack was still laying in the corner of my garage. The grease cap popped off the old one and fit right onto the new one, with a little pounding from my deadblow hammer. I've now salvaged three different parts off the old jack!

Thanks for the suggestions. I might go with the condom just for style and "added protection."
