Re: trailer lights

Hello,
I just bought a complete trailer lighting kit from Walmart and will be installing it tomorrow. After looking at the directions on how to install, you are correct on your assumption.

Black/Green Passenger side, and Yellow/Brown Driver side.
Brown/Black are the running lights.

Word of advice, ensure you your grounds for vehicle/trailer (white wire out of wiring harness) are connected to solid ground. This was the problem my Dad and I were having trying to get my old lights to work before we bought the new kit. A good tool to have handy is a voltmeter, which is how we discovered our issue.

Re: trailer lights

Sounds that way.

The lights will get their ground through the trailer frame. The white wire (assuming a 4 pin flat connection) will connect at the front of the trailer to trailer frame and provide the ground connection.

Yes the black and brown are for the running lights, but they're a different color for a reason. Keeping the colors on the correct side greatly aids in troubleshooting without having to crawl under the trailer and look to see what color runs where as far as the running lights. Don't mix them up just cause they're the same, keep them paired B/G and Y/B.
