Re: Trailer overloaded?
thats atleast a 3500 pound axle since its a brake axle. but that particular type of axle should have shackles connecting the rear spring eye to the rear spring hanger. your springs look almost perfect straightened out. should be arched downward with the ends pointed upward some. i would say that trailer is made for a smaller diameter square tubing axle. at your current set up springs are useless.. may as well just weld the axle tube to the frame.. no suspension at all like it is. i work at a factory building utility trailers and equipent trailers. that axle set up is wrong.
Does this photo look funny to anyone besides me? Bought a boat and trailer last fall and the PO mentioned it had a heavy duty axle. Was thinking about adding a second axle, after cleaning up all the rusty stuff. 19ft fiberglass boat well over 3k lbs when loaded.
