Re: trailer set up, would like a second set of eyes
Capt. A70; If you decide to do it your way then more power to you. We all make our own decisions to make it easier or harder for ourselves. I still tell my wife ..."there's a 'right' way and there's "your" way- you makes you choice and you lives wid' it.
Fact of the matter is- - 99.99999% of the winches out there are designed for the crank and the dog system to operate when the handle is turned clockwise when looking at the crank. It will wind the cable or the strap onto the top of the winch spindle. The only way to get it to wind onto the bottom is to turn the handle anti-clockwise (British) or counter-clockwise (American). If that's what you want to do, then Great!. But it will be uncomfortable for the rest of us. Even the electric winches operate that way. And that is what is being pointed out by "FED", He's pretty sharp!
Of course, no matter what is said here, you will do what you think is right- and that's OK. I just hope that neither you nor anyone else gets hurt just to prove a point. I'm done- - - my opinion is worth just what you paid for it!
I'm with you lion hunter, the boat doesn't fit the trailer very well at all.
Inboard outboard I/O doesn't matter the hull needs to be supported by the transom, the weight should be evenly distributed between the keel rollers and the bunks.
PS- He's right! That winch strap should be coming off the TOP of the spool. It's coming off the bottom according to th pictures.
What difference does it make?
