Hey guys, the trailer is finally put back together. I will be starting on the boat this coming week. Can you guys please look at the location of my front post and the bunks and tell me if I'll be good to go or not. There is about 10" between the end of the bunk and the back of the boat. I heard the bunks were supposed to extend past the end of the boat, but I want to be sure before I go out and buy a longer pair. I cant move the front post any further forward, any thoughts or ideas?

Re: Trailer setup.....

On a boat that size, it probably won't matter at all.
I have had several small boats that hung over the rear end.

Thousands of them came that way back in the day.

the bunks should be even with the transom. No need to extend past the transom.
Can you supply closer pics of the set up? sort of hard to see.

I think you will be just fine as is like Roscoe said. That general advise about the bunks is for larger boats for sure.

...As for larger pics, this site is a pain in the arse to link pics to, thats the best I could do.
Well thanks guys for putting my mind at ease with this situation, it seemed to be ok, but I always heard the transom needs suppport. I doubt I'll ever be trailering with the motor attached anyway, but wanted to be sure.

If you Never trailer with motor, you are good to go.
BUT I would install another roller to support the boat between the forward roller and the winch post.

I actually moved that roller forward and put a mid point roller in there.

New bunks aren't expensive or hard to install. You could make a set and change them out after you launch the boat.

Re: Trailer setup.....

You don't need new bunks. There appears to be enough space on the tongue to move the winch post forward a bit.

Nah, look underneath, there is a piece that prevents moving the post too far forward, its at that point. I went ahead and bought the new bunks. now they fit perfect. They protrude about 2' past the transom when shes on the trailer.
