Re: Trailer Tire Wear

question. are these the front axle tires, or rear axle tires. on my tandem under the searay, I replaced the goodyear marathons due to cording about every 2 years because of the severe turning I did to back up the boat. the tires had less than 400 miles on them and they would cord and separate due to the high side forces while backing into the garage.

Worse wear on the rear set but the front set is wearing similarly as well.

a simple way to check alignment is to take a tape mesure and fron the center poing of the ball measure to each tireif it is not exactly the same then it is out of alignment you should take it to a shop if it is and you can take it to a shop to have it looked at as well

Try to stay away from the China made tires.Even some of the Goodyears are made in China. The Michelin LTX series, even though they are made for light trucks make a exellent trailer tire,if you can afford them.

Unless you want a 14" tire.

Latest update. Well EZ Loader will not do anything about abnormal tire wear, even within warranty period. My boat dealer won't return my calls or E mails. So I had it looked at, right side is toed out , left is OK. Because the right is off its also affecting the left tire. So there is a frame and axle shop 1 hr 15min. away that said they could fix it. So will try them.

If your toe is that out on a solid axle, have them check camber (tilt in or out) while it's there. Is there any sign of an impact?

BTW, having toe off on a single axle trailer always affects both tires. It just splits the difference between the two causing your trailer to follow in a funky manner. Not really enough that you'll notice it, but its there.
