trailer tires

I have a tandem axle trailer hauling a 24' Celebrity cuddy. I just had a tire blow out, actually the tread came off. I went to buy the same tire Goodyear ST215/75R14, they only had the ST205/75R14...I went ahead and bought 2 of these. Since, the original tires are falling apart I want to change all tires to the ST205/75R14. Will this cause any problems running this size tire?

Since the diameter is still the same, I think the only concern would be the load rating.

The overall diameter will be smaller by about 1/2 of an inch, so you will have more revolutions per mile which would make the tire wear quicker. This is likely not an issue with trailer tires as it is usually age, not mileage that dictates replacement.

I just did the same thing with my trailer. They didn't have the 215's so I got the 205's. No problems so far.

First, a tread delamination should be covered as a defect by the tire maker.
What ply/weight rating are you buying? Personally, I would up-size and up the ply rating. No such thing as too much tire imo.

thanks for the info. The tires are from 1996 so probably not covered under any warranty. I agree about not having too much tire. If I haven't already invested in 2 tires I would try to go up. I am just going to change out the other 2 so I have 4 matching.
