My boat trailer has B78-13st tires on it. They are quite dry rotted, and I need to replace them. Do I have to go with the same tires, or will any 5-hole 13 inch tire do?
Trailer tires cut down on whip and sway, plus there made to sit long periods of time with out flat spotting. Yes you can find car tires for less but the ~10.00 more per tire is just worth it.
I agree, there's been some discussion about this before. Seems there are probably (check your state and local laws) no laws requiring the use of trailer rated tires. However, I have heard (just heard, not experienced), that it's the first thing insurance companies check for when a claim is filed. The other myth I heard was to never run radials, not even trailer rated radials. I stood fast by that previously but my new EasyLoader came with trailer rated radials and they're fine.

$500???Thanks, picked up some today. I gotta say, after comparing my old and new tires... I feel alot better about the $500 I just spent.
Anymore for 4 tires mounted and balanced, that's not so far off unfortunately for radials.
4 tires with rims. The rims were original to the boat and were not cared for well. quite a bit of rust. After having my last trailer rust through and collapse while I was deployed, I'm feeling okay about replacing the rims as well.$500???How many tires did you have to buy?
