I have a 1999 7,000# capacity boat trailer. The 3,000# Fulton Magnum Series side wind tongue jack is jammed up and wont move. The gears on the top look ok so it must be jammed in the shaft. The jack is welded on through the trailer frame. I can't seem to find parts. Anybody else have this problem. Is the only option to have it cut off and put a new on jack.

Re: Trailer tongue jack

Perhaps you can fix it and get it unjammed but most of the time they are cut off and replaced with bolt on jacks. I have no idea why they would weld one on in the first place. I had an older trailer that had the welded on jack. It was less of a hassle to cut it off and replace with a bolt on.

The gears are held by roll pins. Remove the pins, remove the handle, and remove both gears. Then, liberally Squirt penetrating oil down the threaded shaft. Repeat for a couple of days before trying to move the shaft. It just might come free.

Problem is water gets inside and rusts the shaft and "nut" that moves the inner tube up and down. In the future bag or cover the top of the jack.

I'm guessing that this pivots up and when not it use??
There is a way to remove it from that mount that is welded, either a nut (like mine) or a outside snap ring. Then you can replace it with one of the same kind just taking off the new mount and putting it on yours.

No, the jack doesn't pivit it is welded right through the center frame about a 18" back from the tongueIMGP2226 (800x597).jpg
