trailer wheel size?

I have a mid 80's tracker trailer,
it has 10" wheels with 20.5x 8-10 wheels.

I dont have a spare (just bought trailer)

was looking for a spare, and went out to measure, and I am getting 3.25 inch from bolt to bolt, and 5.5 inch from a bolt to accross, approximate since the wheel is installed and hard to measure properly.

can this rally be a 5x5.5 wheel? if it is....:facepalm::facepalm:

I cant find any 5x5.5 10" wheels any where

what are my options? changing the hubs?

but what wheel to go to? is that a good tire size or should I change to something else? my current overall tire size is about 20" and can probably go up to like 21"

thanks

Re: trailer wheel size?

Just go to any trailer parts and manufacturing store and most sell the tire and wheel as a unit. Most have the 4 and 5 lug wheels. The question is, how much weight are you hauling. If you have just 1 axel the C rated tire will probably be fine. If you have tandem axels you need to know the weight of your boat & trailer if you need D or E rated tires. This website has the variety for you to look at. www.easternmarine.com

Re: trailer wheel size?

its a five bolt.
most five bolts are 5 on 4.5 (the first five in the bolt pattern is the number of bolts)

it appears by measuring that my wheels are 5 on 5.5

all the online places to I checked do not have 5 on 5.5 trailer wheels in 10"

I want to confirm that this is the case and that I am screwed if it is

To correctly measure bolt circle for 5 bolt, go center to center skipping the adjacent lug. 5-5.5 is a Ford 1/2 ton and Suzuki Samarai common bolt pattern. It was used on some horse trailer applications, but I've never seen it in 10"

Easternmarine has a 5 lug E rated 10 inch wheel in stock. Tire and wheel cost $108.95. E rated has the heavest weight range. My trailer has four of them.

If you are in the US, and if you are just using it as a spare AND if there is room under the fenders, why not buy a 12 inch wheel and tire combo at Wal-Mart, Tractor Supply, or equivalent? It costs only as much as the wheel alone shown in the link. No shipping. Then, as the other tires wear or age and you replace them, you can convert the trailer to 12 inch wheels which are easier to find.

because those are on 5 on 4.5
and I have 5 on 5.5
the holes wont match, thats the problem
I am thinking of swapping the axle or hub out. as 5 on 4.5 is available every where in case of an emergency.
as I am halfway there with buying that spare:mad:
