Trailerable Boat Cover used as Mooring Cover??

I have a trailerable boat cover that I use when im towing long distances and storing the boat outside (boat in signature). In July, I am going on vacation and will leave the boat in the water on the dock near my cabin which means it will be open to the weather. As a result, i want to keep it dry during the rain and try and keep as much debry out of it as possible. To add more detail, my trailerable cover has tie downs that i used to strap it to the trailer in addition to a pull rope that tightens the cover around the rub rail and ties together at the stern which prevents air from entering under the cover during towing. So my question is, can i use the cover as a mooring cover, i was thinking i can drop the tie straps in the boat to keep them out of the water and use the draw strings to tighten it around the rub rail and tie them together at the stern of the boat. Will this work, and if I try it do you think it will hold up during a storm? Thanks for the help.

I don't see any issues. You seem to have it covered. Even if your trailer straps hit the water they get soaked anyway when you trailer in the rain. I'd use a few bungie cords here and there to further secure the cover from blowing off in high winds.

I further protect my rig against dock rub in addition to my fenders I add my two throwable cushions onto the docks uprights. I sometimes also use a couple of life preservers if the dock looks like it might do some damage to my boat in the wind.

Sounds like a nice vacation staying in a cabin and having your boat docked close by. Just add Beer, Broads and Worms :D
