Trailering Seadoos behind Boat Trailer

Has anyone tried to pull a pair of seadoos behind their boat going down the road? I saw someone else doing it and want to pull mine behind my boat instead of always taking two vehicles.. Any ideas or pictures of how it is done...Pro's Cons... any ideas or suggestions? Thought about just going to a Uhaul to ask, but starting here.

Don't waste your time w uhaul.... It will be a totally custom thing... welding will be requires... lets start with the details... what is the vehicle you plan to tow with. What is the length, number of axles, and loaded weight of the boat trailer and same for the pwc trailer.

Is the boat a single engine? I/O, inboard, or outboard?

Pics of the boat trailer specifically the rear crossmember(s)....

Do you have any fabrication abilities and or know anyone who does?

I know that is illegal in michigan, (unless the first trailer is a 5th wheel) - might want to check the state laws before firing the welder up.

Unless your boat trailer is a 5th wheel what your suggesting to do is Illegal in all states. You can't tow a ball hitch trailer behind another ball hitch trailer. If you ever pulled a pair of hay wagons behind a pickup you would understand!

Unless your boat trailer is a 5th wheel what your suggesting to do is Illegal in all states. You can't tow a ball hitch trailer behind another ball hitch trailer. If you ever pulled a pair of hay wagons behind a pickup you would understand!

This is totally incorrect... in MOST states it IS perfectly legal... there are a few that require the lead trailer to be a fifth wheel tho

are you sure, I'm getting a 5th wheel and wanted to travel with ATV's/boat on a 2nd trailer and while researching their are a few States that don't allow "5th wheel train" and I didn't see ANY that allowed double ball hitch setups, granted this is was only 10-11 states that I plan on traveling to but they were pretty clear on NO "road trains" unless the primary trailer was a 5th wheel.

Yes, the 5th wheel requirement is more the exception.
Only with fifth-wheel trailer in AZ, IL, MI, MN, MB (maximum length 23 m.), SK and YT.

Last I checked it was perfectly legal in WI to tow bumper pull to bumper pull. You see it all the time with camper trailers and fishing boats.

While I agree - I'd be looking at the state laws directly before I trusted the compilation of any particular website.

Before “breaking out” that welder. That weldor better be damn sure he knows what he is doing. I have been welding and fabricating almost all my life from my teen years to current (mid 40’s), and to this day I will not touch hitches or trailers (only my own). Too much liability as your life and other lives are at stake. However I have seen some trailer factory welds and it gives me the chills. People who have welders (machines) think they are a weldor (person). Scary.

Agree fully.... It can be done very safely but should not be attempted by a novice... also the liability and of course the cost of defending against a suit could very easily surpass any profit margin for a small shop doing a one off job.

Interestingly according to modern dictionaries welder refers BOTH to the person who is doing the welding and the machine. Weldor is sometimes mentioned in the definition as a synonym but seems to be all but obsolete. I believe that welding and metallurgy books from the 50's and earlier specified that weldor was the craftsman and welder was the machine but that has changed.
