My passenger side rear trailor light turn signal stopped working and the brake light quit working ( all of this works on the car and on the drivers side of the trailor). The light does come on when plugged into the vehicle. Switched bulbs already cleaned male and female posts already. Any suggestions for testing this issue?

Start with a test light at the car/trailor connection. it will be the yellow or green wire, can't remember which. check there for power, then follow back to light to see if there is a bad connection or broken wire. The turn and brake light for each side work on the same circuit. If you have power all the way then check the ground for that light assy.

Good Luck:)

What he Says!!! Make sure that the ground is making good contact.

No. Electrical Rule....Check your ground. The ball isn't the greatest ground. For testing, gator clip a line from your car/truck to the trailer unless you already have a separate ground wire. If the problem is not the ground, an electrical probe (tester) will find the trouble.

What's intresting is that both tail lights work. The passenger side wont flash or the turn signal does not work. So there is power to it. Is it possible the whole turn signal has failed?

You misunderstand how the lights work. The tail/stop/turn signal lamp bulb has two filaments in it. The normal tail (running light) lights the dimmer of the two filaments. The stop and turn signals use the other filament. Since the drivers side works, you do not have a "trailer" ground issue. What you do have is a break in the stop/turn signal wire for the passenger side. It is also possible that you have inserted the bulb in correctly. Yes -- the bulbs are keyed so they only go in one way, but the lamps are made so cheaply it is easy for folks to put them in 180 degrees out. Hold the bulb so the little nubs face right and left. Note that one is slightly higher than the other. While you are looking at it, check both filaments. If the bulb is bad one or both of the filaments will be broken. The lamp itself also has a good ground because the tail (running light works). The brown wire in the trailer harness feeds the tail lights. The other wire going into the light is the stop/turn signal wire. Check that wire back to the plug. Somewhere along the line it is either disconnected or broken.
