According to the maintenance schedule my tow vehicle is due for new tranny fluid. Is this a DIY job? If so, whats the procedure.
Vehicle is a 2000 Eord Expedition eb 4x4 60k miles 5.4l

If this isn't a DIY thing what would I expect to pay to have it done.

You can do it yourself. Just drop the pan change
the gasket and the filter. There is no way to
drain the converter unless you hook up to a
flushing machine. So you will only be changing
a portion of the oil. If you want a complete oil
change then you will have to go to a trany shop or
garage to have them put it on a machine to flush
it out.

What NOSLEEP said.
Just a tip. If your pan does not have a drain plug, leave one bolt in the front or rear tight till you get all the others out and then get you drain pan ready on the opposite end of the bolt and loosen it up and let the pan come down to drain the fluid in it or you will have a real mess.

If you do drop the pan, there are aftermarket kits to install a drain plug in the pan. Also, some torque converters have small drain plugs, you have to rotate it and look, but then you have to make sure it gets refilled. I have always just drained the tranny, replaced filter and fluid, and not messed with the torque converter. Anymore, I let shops do it. If they screw it up, they get to fix it, and I barely have time to fart with it anymore. Rather be fishin...

if you decide to have a shop do it with the intent to have the converter flushed as well, be sure you ask them about it.some shops are unable to due to not having the equipment, and others wont in order to save time, make more money so be sure you ask then check your recipt to see if it was done if it dosent show ask to have a new recipt printed out stating that the converter was flushed.i say this because i have seen warenty issues resulting from it.
