Anybody every try attaching their transducer using velco rather than drilling holes in their alum boat?? Have my unit attached to the seat that way, but not sure how the glue will hold up in the water. Just purchased speed indicator and looking for way to mount without drilling.

Re: transducer attached with velcro

Not velco, but I attached a 1/2 inch thick nylon block to the transom with hot glue then screwed my transducer into that. Works great for several years then someone banged it while helping me launch in very shallow water and it fell off. I will glue it back with more hot glue.

A couple of small stainless steel bolts or screws sealed inside and outside with silicone rubber are not going to leak. My transducer is mounted on my aluminum jon like that and it's been leak-free for 12+ years. Actually small stainless bolts with washers, nyloc nuts with silicone is probably the best, but mine are just screws. Good Luck!
