Transducer help please?

Hi from Wales UK,<br />I have just purchased a Si Tex CVS 106L fishfinder for my boat,it was supplied with a bronze through hull style transducer,however not wanting to drill my hull (single skinned grp)can anyone see why i cannot mount it inside the hull to shoot through?<br />I realise it would need to be either epoxy bonded or an oil bath type installation,but a little concerned that it will work ok?<br />Any advise from you experienced guys across the big pond would be a great help.<br />Thanks

FRom what I found on the finder you bought, they don't come with a transducer, did yours? The finder I bought is not near as nice as yours and it fires through my hull find and seems to be pretty accurate. I would check with the manufacturer of the transducer.

Hi Vip,<br />Yes it came with a dual frequency bronze through hull as standard!<br />Intend on installing tomorrow and think ill try an epoxy type glue and see how i get on!<br />Thanks

I don't think you will have any problems. When you stick it down use a thin layer and work the transducer around to work out any air bubbles in the glue, that is what Eagle told me when I called about mounting mine inside the hull. Good Luck!

Make sure you use the slow dry epoxy. According to my FF's instructions, the use of fast dry or "5 minute" epoxy will lead to poor performance due to small bubbles that form as the epoxy sets up. Slower drying epoxy doesn't have this problem

Croeso,<br /><br />And sound advice about the bubbles, Rob.<br /><br />Any bubbles will make a permanent error in your readings, so that's the killer to avoid. Otherwise, just make sure that the transducer base is pointing STRAIGHT down, and as near to the keel centreline as practical.
