Hey guys I have a 78 Chapperal Tri Hull and I was wondering where would be the best place to mount the transducer???? I have a Humminbird Wide eye. I does have a bilge area but not to sure about mounting there, but on the other hand not to sure if I want hole in my transom. Tell me what you think. I also heard if you mount them in the bilge you have to fill it up with water before you use it???? Thanks guys.

If mounted in the bildge, it has to be expoxied in, as it wont transmit signals thru air.

If you like, you can test it by securing it in the bilge with sandbags or whatever, flooding it and taking a test run - but the epoxy will do the trick afterwards. slow cure lets all the bubbles escape before it completely cures.

Re: Transducer mount???

With mine, I made a PVC ring that the xducer fits in and used silicone to seal it to the bilge floor and filled it with water for testing locations. Once I found the location that worked best, I glued the ring to the bilge with 3m 4200 adhesive and once it dried, put a layer of silicone in the ring. The transducer sits in the silicone and works great plus I can remove it if I need to.
