Transducer mounting

The instructions say to mount the transducer 1/8" at the low end which means the other end is even lower than that. I have two transducers on my boat one was broke when I bought it last year and the other just broke the other day. I was walking around the marina and noticed that some people have them mounted flush and some people have them below the boat. I noticed with my working one that I would have to adjust it down for it to work while at high speed. I don't know if I remount it flush whether if would work. I run my boat on the Delaware and when the last one broke it didn't seem like I hit anything I was in the channel but I guess there could have been a piece of wood, If it was it was not on the surface.

Any suggestions on mounting would be appreciated. I posted this link before and would like opinions on whether you think this would work. Am I being paranoid or do other people have problems with broken transducers.

I was looking at the T1.

Sounds like you have the swivel bolts to tight. Most transom mount transducers have a kick up feature that allows them to swing up when striking a F/O or bottom. I run mine @ 1/4" to 3/8" below the hull to get into clean water. 20 years no problem.

Re: Transducer mounting

Thanks for the reply. Where do you run your boat? There is a lot of wood on the Delaware at times. In fact when I lost the last one there was lots of wood and I had the eagle eye out for it. Which is why I was surprised when I lost it I didn't see anything and I was looking.

I have a new bracket coming and will take your advice on that screw thanks.

Massachusetts Bay and the Gulf of Maine, out of Gloucester Ma . The wood I worry about is telephone poles floating out from Boston harbor and tree trunks floating down trom New Hampshire. Wood gets water logged and dosen't always float at the surface where you can see it. With the proper adjustment you shouldn't lose any more transducers.
