I have to move my transducer due to mounting trim tabs. I heard somewhere that you can mount your transducer on your trim tab. Does anybody know anything about this or have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance...

Re: Transducer mounting

If you have a solid hull bottom put the transducer inside. Safer and neater. Check if you can use Silicone Rubber to mount it. Much easier to replace. Try to keep it near centerline and to the rear where the water is always SOLID under the boat.

Re: Transducer mounting

Do you mean to glue it to the hull on the inside and have it shoot through the hull? (no hole in hull?) Hmmmm...I have never thought of that. I do have several access hatches were I could reach the hull. I could try that I guess. How would this affect accuracy and range?

Re: Transducer mounting

IT will not,if the hull is solid FIBREGLASS ONLY. Call the manufacturer and check it out.

Re: Transducer mounting

If it is solid fibergalss you can shoot thru the hull with about a 10 percent loss. Use slow cure epoxi and try to mix without bubbles. Any air bubbles like if you use a fast cure epoxi and the bubbles do not have time to get out will degrade your signal the same as air. (it is air)

If the fiberglass has a wood core or a foam core then you must cut down thru the core to get to solid fiberglass for it to work.

You can try it and see how it works by building a little lake in the bottom of your hull. Build the pond out of kids clay and fill with clean water. Put your transducer in the water and try to get it flat on the bottom then go test it.
