I bought a 2001 29 Outrage a few years ago. I am looking to replace the electronics Currently not working) and was wondering what type of transducer would work best. I have twin outboards and have not seen a thru-hull transducer on the boat. So, I am assuming there was a transom transducer in the past. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Your electronics determine the transducer.

Some can have either, some only have transom mounts

Transducers are pretty specialized these days.

If running conventional sonar, most of the “better” electronics allow you mix and match transducers to suit your application and mounting requirements.

Select the brand electronics and the features you want/need. From there they will give you a list of comparable transducers.

The best performing conventional transducer is a thru-hull installation.

If you go with side scan, most side scan transducers are proprietary and transom mounted.

I run a thru-hull Airmar B75M along with a Garmin GT51M-TM side scan transducer on the transom
