As I was checking out the bleed restrictors I noticed how rough the beginning of the transfer Ports are. Can these be smoothed out without hurting anything? I attached a pic to show what im talking about.ports 005.jpg

Actually, those are smoothed. I've seen them with the casting flash still in there. I don't think it will hurt anything to clean them up if you want. I wouldn't get too carried away unless you've got someone experienced looking over your shoulder.

If you are referring to the orange peel finish that is there for a reason. It stops boundry layers of air/fuel from forming and keeps the fuel in mixture with the air. Sharp flashes can be removed.

You can smooth up the casting where red arrow are but you wont see any increases in performance. Remember air travels around a curved edge better than a square edge. I even had a set of flat covers made with welded deflector to try to increase crankcase volume & flow to cylinders. What I found was and it made engine a dog at midrange rpms and lost 800 rpm on top end.

Well if it's not going to help anything I will just leave them alone. Thanks for all the feedback on this. I hope everyone has a great and safe thanksgiving...
