Transom bolt specs?

Does anyone know the specifications for the transom mount bolts for a 1990 Mercury 40ELPTO outboard? I recently acquired this motor and need to mount it to my boat. It didn't come with the bolts to mount the engine to the transom.

I want to make sure I get the right spec bolts. Thanks!

I doubt there are any serious specs for the mounting bolts. Larger motors use 4 1/2 inch stainless steel bolts with nylon lock nuts and washers. Your motor is likely the same. Get fine thread ones if you can.

Four 1/2" bolts is much-much-much stronger than is needed, hence the lack of specs.

Now if you want to talk about specs for the 4 "Ride Guide" internal engine motor mounts, that is a different story.
