Does anyone know where I can get plans for a transom bracket platform.

Since no two boat transoms are identical you could either call the mfg. and ask them if they have plans or drawings or just make one yourself out of SS tubing. It will require some TIG welding but most machine shops should be able to help. What kind of boat?

The boat is a well craft center console that i am restoring. I was thinking about closing in the transom and adding the motor on an aftermarket bracket but I don't have money in my boats budget to buy one for 1500 but i figured i could probably fabricate one for 500.

Before you consider adding a transom extension for your motor remember that you will be also adding additional stress and weight to it. It should not be taken as a weekend project. Most older boats were not designed for such a project - especially a homemade one. The stress points will be maxed out and the ability of the transom to hold it all together will be compromised.
And that transom better be solid as a rock for any extension - homemade or not. Better save a few bucks and see if you can't find a good used one on eBay.

ya i didn't think about the weight but that is a very good point i guess it is not such a good idea. I may as well just strengthen my existing transom and put a new motor on it. Are there any advantages or disadvantageous to have a 20 in vs a 25 inch motor. The boats previous owner cut the transom down but since i have to redo much of the transom and repower i figure now is a good time to make it a 25 incher unless there is some disadvantage.
