Re: transom cuve?

Looks like that had a Johnnyrude V-4 on it. An ole 50Hp maybe? The weight of one of those could definately sag the transom over time. Don't know for that specific boat, but they were typically flat back then. If you need to restore it, consider making it a 20" transom.

Man, that thing's so ugly it's cool.

What, That boat looks to be late fifties-early sixties. It's splashwell is missing, and that will contribute to the warping of the transom. If you are set on restoring it, I recommend you make a good sized splashwell, and put in a whole new transom.

From the looks of that thing I wouldn't even put a trolling motor on it.It looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Just my 2 pennies.

Re: transom cuve?

Is it curved where it meets the bottom. If it is than it was made that way. If it is straight where it meets the bottom than it is probably warped.

Re: transom cuve?

what66--I apologize. The responses here seem a little abrupt.

From the pictures you posted the boat looks like it was uncovered outside for quite a while.I am no expert but from reading other posts by the experts I would certainly check the stringers and flooring. From your pictures it looks like you are down south, possibly coastal, and I would hate to have you breaking up after topping some heavy waves.

Maybe one of our experts will advise you from here.

>>>>>>>HAPPY BOATING DREAMS<<<<<<

Re: transom cuve?

Check on fiberglassics.com . If you know the make and model, someone there will be able to tell you if the transom is supposed to be curved or not.
