Re: Transom Drain Tube installation
The check ball is actually very light and only fills about 3/4's of the opening when draining, if that. I could see leaves being a problem but they would eventually be a problem for most drain tubes. Rocks or gravel could impede the "check" part of it but no one forgets to put the plug in right?
It looks like the ball is light enough that heavier materials would drain below it if they get by.
I don't know, it's been 3 years since I've installed mine and have tested it this last year without the plug and it held solid against gushing water. I'm impressed, but just like everything in this world every does have their own opinion and experiences with products. Been nothing but good for me so I can only comment on what I know and have experienced however, check ball or not, the screw in type plug does take my mind off the plug when on the water, I know it won't pop out on me.
The only thing I wonder about is the check ball. How many problems with debris in the bilge causing drainage to cease, vs just slowed down with a full sized hole with no check ball.
