I received a new fishfinder/GPS for Christmas and want to remove all the old stuff as well as mount the new one correctly on the left hand side (left hand prop rotation). Here are the pictures of the transom as it is now:

Will be removing the transducer and paddlewheel and filling the holes. The method I'm contemplating is to pick out the 5200, slightly overdrill the holes, camfer the holes for jelcoat, inject epoxy resin, and then cover the holes with jelcoat. If anyone has a better idea for that portion please let me know.
Mounting the new transponder is where I'm not sure of which method to use. I was going to glue starboard to the hull and then attach the new transponder to that. Now I'm hearing that starboard won't hold epoxy or any other adhesive. Then some say that's not right and it will! So what's right -will it or won't it?
It doesn't make sense to me to drill holes in the hull for the starboard to avoid drilling holes for the transducer.
