I'm going to pick up my (new to me) 1987 SeaRay Pachanga 22 tonight and already have a boat name chosen. I want to have the letters made up as close to the same letters (font and size) my dad had on his 1986 Pachanga 22 back in the late 80's. Here is a picture of my dad's boat and you can barely make out the lettering.

Yes, that's me and my sister in the pic. His boat name was "NO REGRETS". Here is my boat which is the same hull.

I'm wondering what size letters and how wide I should order them. Here is the font I've chosen in the darker blue, to match the main body color on my boat.

It appears that there is a slight arc of the letters on my dads but since I'll most likely order these letters online I don't have the option of arcing them the same. Anyone want to venture a guess as to what size the letters are on my dad's boat and how wide?

Take a look here (If you haven't already). You are looking for:

Effect Type: ARC
Effect Direction: Down-Low

It might not be exact, but it's close.

What is the name you want on the boat? Is that the name of the Font? We can play with it to get what you want.

Assuming the boat is 8 ft wide....
The "N" is 6 inches tall and the "No Regrets" is stretched to 66 inches (5.5ft) wide.

Doityourselflettering.com calls the effect "Deflate Top" (~35%)

They are easy to work with, and can get Fonts not listed on the site.

Re: Transom letter sizing for SeaRay Pachanga

thanks for the help guys! I've been searching on google but couldn't find a site with the preview tool that had the "deflate top" option. If you look closely at my dad's you can see that the outside edge of the N is about an inch or 2 in from the outside of where the colored portion of the hatch is at the piping. I'll be hauling the boat home tonight so I'm going to measure the distance between the outside piping of the hatch and just size the width of my lettering to just a bit smaller. Think I should go with the light blue, the medium blue or the dark blue that's on the sides? I'm thinking the dark blue since the word "Pachanga 22" is in that color...

And when I say, "piping" I mean the actual piping of the vinyl, not the steel tube "grab bar" at the back of the hatch...

Measured out my transom last night and I've decided on my letters! Thanks for the help guys! I'm hoping the doityourselflettering people can mirror the letters for me so that when you look at the name in a mirror it reads "NO REGRETS" just like my dads old boat. I'll be calling them in a minute to find out!

I don't understand the mirror thing. How would anyone see the back of the boat in a mirror. Everyone would just assume it said "Sterger On" and have no idea what you were saying.

Same Here!
I thought "Sterger On" was the name of the Font!!
I never realized it was reverse text.
