transom material for 18.5 ' starcraft

I picked up a hull and the transom wood is kinds soft...since I have to add a few rivets and a who new floor, and paint..i figure ill do the transom before i get going too far

its a tall transom....and its thick...what are you guys using for the wood?? 2x12 glued on top of each other? a few layers of 3/4 " marine playwood?? it looks to be almost 2" thick!!!! and it has to be at least 30" high!!!

Arauco Plywood from Lowes. Two coats of epoxy pay attention to the edges especially. Couple of coats of Rustoleum Oil Based Industrial enamel and it will last for decades. Prolly about 1 1/2" thick so two 3/4" pieces laminated together using Titebond III glue. It's 100% Waterproof.

Ayuh,... Like Woodonglass says, just glue up whatever size/ shape ya need outa plywood....

Two 3/4", 'n a 1/2" is 2"...
