transom mount assembly continuity wires

On the inner side of my the transom assembly (alpha 1, gen II) there were two bare wires that attached to the motor. I think they are called continuity wires based on a diagram I saw. Mine were cut when my engine was removed. Do these bare wires act as a bonding wire between the sterndrive assembly and the motor? Do they need to be re-attached when the motor goes back in?

Ayuh,.... They're there for proper bonding,... Yes, Fix 'em...
