transom number search engine?

is there a way to search transom numbers to find out any more information on a boat such as year, model, trim, etc?

there's a boat in my neighborhood thats been sitting and last registered in 2007 that has a layer of crap on thats thick as ever. I'm curious if its for sale but in case it is I wanna know about what its worth before I walk into a bigger money situation than I want.

basically I want to know what its worth in good running condition compared to how it sits if I show up on the door and the guy tells me to make him an offer.

here's the transom number just in case:
3754773E889

its a 2200 cc Hydra Sports with a 200hp evinrude and twin axle float-on trailer with trailer brakes.

Ayuh,... It'll tell ya the Vintage,.. The 1 you posted is a 1989...

Here's how to read the HIN stamped on the transom. http://boatsafe.com/nauticalknowhow/hin.htm. It would appear that the boat's construction was completed in May, 1988 and that the boat was designated as a 1989 model. The apparent lack of a manufacturer's code is puzzling.

where do I look for any other numbers/info? I dont mind doing "covert" number searching at night lol.

I just wanna get as much info on the boat as possible before ringing the doorbell with cash in hand. lol.

hydra sports boats are all composite construction right?
