Transom Pad - Flew Off and Ran Over AHHHHH.....

I have a 1988 Sea Ray Seville Cuddy Cabin and the transom cover, which I just had reupholstered, flew off while driving to Lake Havasu:facepalm:. Now, I have to build a new one but don't know how. I think it is ply formed in the shape of an L to cover the area between the back seat and transom. Then it's padded. Is this correct and if so do I need to round the edge that goes over the seat backs to for a more rounded L?

Like I said it was just done......The reupholstery

That's a real Bummer!!!
R U doing it or having it done? An electric Carving knife works GREAT on shaping foam. You'll want to shape the foam to it's final shape as best you can. the "Bumped UP" end pieces are sewn separately with their own 1" foam inserts and then sewn in to the main piece. If you have a heavy duty sewing machine you can do this, or maybe you already have!!!! If so, looks like you did a great job!!! Sorry for your misfortune!!!

I'll have the upholstery work done but I'll be building the frame. Was I correct in how to construct the frame? L shaped ply? Thanks Wood as usual you are a huge help.

I'm assuming you grabbed the old one off the road? Can't you just yank the old upholstery off it and look at its construction? I'm sure its damaged but may still lend some clues as to its construction

Well, not much help here cuz.. don't know for sure how the frame is constructed. I, like you, would assume a basic L-Frame from plywood would do the trick but having never seen or done one, I am not certain. Maybe someone that has this boat will chime in.

I wish I could have however, it was rush hour on a SOCAL freeway. I would have been hit for sure and the highway patrol gave an hour ETA. It was being run over so an hour wasn't going to work. I went back after the trip figuring it would have been pulled off at some point but it was now where to be found.

Thanks anyways Wood. I'll post this on the Sea Ray forum and see if someone can give me an idea.
