So I am replacing the rubber gaskets on the 2 lower through bolts. The bolt head has a square to index the bolt and small gasket around it. They seems to be lacking in substance. Wondering if others put sealant on them. I was thinking a very thin coating should do it On both side of the gasket. Nothing I’ve seen calls for it.

I just did mine and didn't use any sealant. Only had it in the water about 2 hours so far, but no leaks.

Wow, talk about timing. I kinda don’t want to add sealant and it’s hard to see the entire the gaskets once installed because they are slightly recessed into the housing. So if I don’t add sealant, I think it might be a good idea to re-torque them in 2 or 3 years.

In my opinion, that was another MC design flaw. I had the same crap on an older 86. I replaced motors and these boat sinkers with SS and lots of 5200

I like the idea. I assume you eliminated the anodes then?
