hello all. I've got a question regarding my transom. In the picture I have the transom, its got 2 pieces of wood glued together. the outer (yellow) and the inner (red). as you can see the red inner one goes the whole width of the boat. the outer yellow one is only about 2 feet wide. Can I safely remove both these pieces of wood without damaging anything structural? or should i just try and peel off this outerlayer which i doubt will come out? thanks for your input again

Re: transom question

I would gut the lot,
a sawzall , hammer w/ sharp chisel and a wonder bar , maybe a grinder in the corners. Don't worry too much about cutting through the outter glass, a glass patch on the inside is very strong.

Re: transom question

Yeah just get in there and rip'er out. If you work the wonder bar in slowly around the edge it will act as a wedge and dislodge that baby right out of there. That's how I did mine. No problems at all.
