Hadn't checked the board in a while. Great to see the transom worked out for you and that you're back on the water after the tree attack. Pictures look real good. What did you end up using for the gunwale? Looks like a 2x4 with a bend at the bow. How did you manage that? <br /><br />Dave, in answer to your question from earlier this month, yes I'm building the OB15- for almost a year now sorry to say. The boat project has taken a back seat to a few others. (new house) I have gotten real good building advice from both of you on the other board. My user name is KW on Bateau. Great to see you guys are enjoying the finished product. I'm hoping to hit the water in early Summer.

The gunnel is made from oak.<br /><br />It is 3/4" oak plywood cut to fit, then I used a total of 72 feet of 1 1/4" oak trim to go around the edge of the plywood. <br /><br />Heres some new pictures from today with the new paint job, ect.<br /><br />

John, You've done a great job. I'm sure you are going to enjoy this boat for quite some time. While boxing the storage compartments on the inside, do you have drainage or do the lids seal out moisture?<br /><br />Again, Great Looking Boat!

Thanks EE! I assume you mean the rear storage compartments in the splashwell/transom area? I had hopes that those hatches were really water tight as they said on the package- they are not. I opened up one of them today to see it was holding water from wash down/spray. So I am going to have to drill a drail hole in the bottom, no big deal since the bilge is right below them.<br /><br />Those other oak hatches, well I wish they were water proof, im still trying to figure out what to do with them, the 2 front drain under the floor into the bilge, the other rear one is the problem I suppose.<br /><br />-John

That's a real good looking fishing boat, you did good when you get all the finishing touches on it you'll have something to be proud of.

I am in Maine yes, the last picture is the downtown Portland Waterfront, one small part of it anyhow. The top picture shows the waterfront in the distance as well, the ramp is in South Portland I was using (across the bay).
